70th INDEPENDENCE DAY IN TRINCOMALEE

The National Independence Day celebration ceremony was organized by the Trincomalee District Secretariat in coordination with 22 Division on 04th February 2018 at Fort Fredric, Trincomalee.

The event commenced the Eastern Province Hon Governor Mr. Rohitha Bogollagama hoisting the National Flag amidst rhythmic beating of Magul Bera. 30 Students from five school in the Trincomalee Song the National anthem. A Two minute silence in memory of fallen war heroes who scarified their lives to safeguard the territorial integrity of the mother land.

Around 150 personnel representing Army, Navy, Air Force, Civil Security Department participated for the parade. more than thousands of student in 31 school Trincomalee, dressed in their colorful attire after wards began their march - past, according their salute to Hon Eastern Province Governor the chief guest of the ccasion.

Rhythmic cultural shows by the School children and other from the Division Secretarial levels, added variety and magnificence to the parade. Troops of the 22 Division display “Angampure” cultural event participation of 100 soldiers. It’s highlighted the event.

Trincomalee District Secretary Mr. NAA Puspakumara and his Staff extended their gratitude for the Army and appreciated assistance to make the ceremony a success.

Religious Dignitaries, Chief Secretary of Eastern Provincial Council Mr. DMS Abayagunawardana, District Secretary for Trincomalee Mr. NAA Puspa Kumara, GOC 22 Division Maj Gen KPA Jayasekara WWV RSP USP ndc psc Senior DIG Eastern Province Mr. Kapila Jayasekaa, 221 Bde Comd Brigader KPS Premalal RWP RSP USP, DIG Trincomalee Mr. Nimal Perera Heads of the Provincial and District Department, Senior Officers from Tri Services, Police and Civil Defence Force and large gathering of distinguished invitees were present at the event.
