BEACH CLEARING TO CONSERVE THE COASTAL ENVIRONMENT

The coastal area at Addalachchenai is highly polluted due to the discarded wrappers, plastic bottles, and heat of polythene and it is caused to pollute the beautiful coastal area.

Under the guidance of Commander Security Forces (East), Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi, instruction of General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division, Major General Wipula Chandrasiri and the supervision of Brigade Commander 241 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Danika Pathirathna, 241 Infantry Brigade organized the beach cleaning programme at the Addalachchenai beach on Saturday (February 11).

Furthermore, altogether approximately 70 persons participated to the cleaning programme including Army troops from 241 Infantry Brigade and 11 Sri Lanka National Guard and civilians from Addalachchenai Walkers Union and Mosque Federation. The Commander of the 241 Infantry Brigade was leading the programme and the Second in Command of 11 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard also took the main part of the programme.
