COMMANDER SECURITY FORCE EAST GRACES THE 143rd COLLEGE DAY OF ST. JOSEPH'S COLLEGE BATTICALOA

The St. Josephs' College Batticaloa, one of the leading educational institutions in the Eastern Province, celebrated its 143rd College Day with religious observances amidst a host of distinguished invitees on 19 March 2018.

With the invitation of His Lordship Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Ponniah, the gathering was inspired by the presence of an Ambassador of Vatican His Excellency Archbishop Most Rev. Dr. Pierre Ngyuen Van Tot along with eminent personnel, encouraging the college community to strive hard and develop in future to achieve more glory.

In response to a request made by the school, the tireless efforts taken by the troops of 10th Battalion of Gajaba Regiment of 231 Brigade - 23 Div as a gesture of goodwill to refurbish the school premises by colour washing the School buildings‚ were gratefully appreciated by the principal and the staff of the school. They made a special request from the Commander SF-East Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, the Guest of Honour of the event to "adopt our school as yours and travel with us, especially with our staff and students for our future development".

Addressing the students, the Commander SF-East Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, stressed upon the need of starting a new chapter of life by becoming versatile personalities who shine both in the academic and sports fields.

The stage was glamoured by drama and singing performances showcasing the brilliant talents of the students.

His Lordship Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Ponniah, Member of Parliament Batticaloa Hon. S. Viyalendiran, Genaral Officer Commanding 23 Division - Brigadier Chula Abeynayka, Commander 231 Brigade - Brigadier Senarath Niwunhella, the principal and the staff, members of the School Development Society, teachers and students of the invited schools, and an audience including parents, students and well wishers attended the event.
