COMMANDER SECURITY FORCE (MULLAITIVU) GRACES THE PASSING OUT OF REALITY BASED SELF DEFENCE COURSE

In consequence to a request made by the Commander, Security Force (Mullaitivu) from the Security Force Headquarters (East), a group of SF (Mullaitivu) soldiers graduated as 'self defence' competent upon the successful completion of the Reality Based Self Defence (RBSD) course. The passing out ceremony of the RBSD course No 05 was held on 16 September at the Headquarters 23 Division in the presence of a large gathering of viewers. A total of 52 Army personnel serving in Security Force (Mullaitivu) and Security Force – East (47 men and 05 women) followed the course. Commander Security Force (Mullaitivu) Major General Dushan Rajaguru graced the passing out ceremony as the Chief Guest.

Reality Based Self Defence (RBSD) or Reality Based Martial Arts refer to systems of self defence that focuses exclusively on reality based self defence scenarios and conditions. It is all about learning how to fight for self defence in an actually threatened scenario. This RBSD course was carefully designed under the conceptual guidance of Commander Security Force East, Major General Santhusitha Pananwala focusing exclusively on empowering the soldiers to face actually threatened scenarios in the modern day society with a view to enhance the capacity of army personnel to face future security challenges.

23 Division conducted the Reality Based Self Defence (RBSD) course with the expertise and professionalism of Lieutenant Colonel K V I L Jayaweera of Commando Regiment and the soldiers of the 1 Commando Regiment.

Commander Security Force (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, Director General Infantry Major General D C Keppetiwalana, General Officer Commanding 22 Division Major General Aruna Jayasekara, Commander FMA (East) Major General Manoj Mudannayaka, General Officer Commanding 24 Division Major General Mahinda Mudalige, General Officer Commanding 23 Division Brigadier Chula Abenayaka and a large gathering of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Rankers were present at the occasion.
