COMMANDER SF-EAST VISITS TROOPS IN THE 22 INFANTRY DIVISION

The newly appointed Commander Security Forces-East (SF-E), Major General MKUP Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, made his first field visit to the 22 Infantry Division in Trincomalee and its under command Infantry Brigades from 31 August to 01 September 2023.

Accordingly, on 31 August 2023 at first, he visited the 22 Infantry Division Headquarters, and Maj Gen GMN Perera RWP RSP USP ndu, General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division warmly welcomed the Eastern Commander, after he was saluted in a colorful Guard Turnout at the entrance, presented by 5 (V) Sri Lanka Artillery troops. Afterwards, he posed for a group photograph with the divisional staff and attended a briefing conducted by General Officer Commanding on the role, tasks, and responsibilities of the Division. Further, he addressed the 22 Infantry Division troops before he planted a mango sapling, and during the All-Rank tea, he interacted with the troops of the Division.

Later, the Eastern Commander visited to 221 Infantry Brigade and 2 (V) Gajaba Regiment, in the same day. Brigade Commander and Commanding Officer warmly welcomed the Eastern Commander to their establishments according to military traditions.

Starting the second day of the visit, on 01 September 2023, the Eastern Commander interacted with Government Agent - Trincomalee, Mr.Chaminda Hettiarachchi and Chief Secretary Mr. R M P S Rathnayake. Also, the Eastern Commander meets the vice President of the IOC - TCO Mr.Debanjan Mukarji, Chief Priest of Koneshwaram Hindu Temple Kurukkal Shanmuganatha and Chief Maulavi of Al Duhul Mosque Mohomad Jawzinat the GOC's Office before he departs from the Division. Afterwards, the Eastern Commander visited the 223 Infantry Brigade and 222 Infantry Brigade respectively. Brigade commanders together with Commanding Officers welcomed the Eastern Commander at respective brigade locations with all military honors.

Brigade Commanders comprehensively briefed the visiting Eastern Commander on the roles,tasks, and responsibilities of their respective brigades.The Eastern Commander did not forget to make complimentary remarks in visitors' books at all places that he visited.

Major General G M N Perera RWP RSP USP ndc, General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division, Brigade Commanders, all Staff Officers, Commanding Officers of all under command battalions together with all subordinate officers and other ranks interacted with the Commander, Security Forces (East) during the visit.
