As per the concept of Major General JSBW Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc Commander Security Forces (East), and under the guidance of Major General KW Jayaweera USP psc General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division, a Community Assistance Programme was conducted by 242 Infantry Brigade on 24 October 2025 at Am/Panama Maha Vidyalaya.
The programme was organized under the supervision of Brigadier KGAT Kelakorale RSP Commander 242 Infantry Brigade, with the financial sponsorship of Mr Gamini Kirthichandra President of the Sinhala Balamandala in the United Kingdom and a resident of Moratuwa.
During the event, essential school supplies were distributed among 100 students representing eight selected schools within the Brigade area of responsibility.
The Commander Security Forces (East) attended the event as the Chief Guest, together with the General Officer Commanding 24 Infantry Division, senior officers, Divisional Secretaries, Education Officers, teachers, parents, and students.
The programme was successfully concluded, fulfilling its aim of supporting the educational needs of children in the area and further strengthening the cordial relationship between the Sri Lanka Army and the local community.
