CONDUCTING FIELD VISIT OF AFFECTED AREAS IN THE TRINCOMALEE DISTRICT

The Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Hon. Sunil Handunnethi, the Governor of the Eastern Province, Mr. Jayantha Lal Ratnasekera, The Commander of the Security Forces (East), Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP, RSP, ndu, psc, along with other senior officers, visited the Trincomalee District to inspect the disaster situation caused by the adverse weather conditions. An inspection visit was carried out in several affected areas.

The officials first visited the Dehiwatta Temple, where they met with displaced persons sheltered at the safe center maintained within the Temple premises and inquired about their needs, health, and welfare. They then proceeded to the Muthur Divisional Secretariat, met the Divisional Secretary, and received a briefing on the assistance being provided by the Army in the disaster situation.

Next, they visited the Serunuwara Raja Maha Viharaya, where they met the Chief Incumbent, Ven. Aludeniye Subodhi Thero, and inspected the safe center maintained within the temple.

Later, the Commander of the Security Forces (East), Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP, RSP, ndu, psc, along with senior officers, commended the Commanding Officer, officers, and other ranks of the 9th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment for their efforts in carrying out disaster relief operations within their area of responsibility.
