DEFENSE SECRETARY PAID THE LAST RESPECT TO THE LATE CHIEF INCUMBENT OF BUDDHANGALA RAJA MAHA VIHARAYA, MOST VEN KALUTHARA DHAMMANANDHA ON 9TH APRIL 2014

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa paid last respects to late Most Ven. Kalutara Sri Dhammanandabidhana Nayaka Thero at Daham Medura Viharaya in Buddangala, Ampara on 09th Apri 2014. Major General Lal Perera, Commander Security Forces (East) along with Several Military and civil Dignitaries were accompanied with the Defense Secretary. The late Ven. Kalutara Sri Dhammanandabidhana Nayaka Thero was a bearer of the Sri Lanka Ramanna chapter and chief incumbent of the Daham Medura Viharaya. The Venerable thero passed away on 06th April at the age of 86 years. The Nayaka Thero was born on 27th December 1927 and entered the Buddhist order at a young age. The late prelate rendered his service immensely during the war time to protect the innocent people from the ruthless terrorism irrespective of the race and religion. The cremation of the late chief incumbent of Buddhangala Aranya Senasana, Ven. Kalutara Dhammananda Thera, took place with state patronage at Ampara Public Stadium on 10th April at the public grounds in Ampara.
