EAST COMMANDER OFFICIAL VISIT TO THE 23 INFANTRY DIVISION AND ITS UNDER-COMMANDS BRIGADES AND UNITS

The Commander, Security Forces - East (SF-E), Major General Sujeewa Hettiarachchi paid his official field visits to the Infantry Brigades and Battalions of the 23 Infantry Division with a view to supervising and improving standards of officers and soldiers on 21 and 22 March 2023.

On Tuesday (March 21) the Commander first arrived at the Headquarters 232 Infantry Brigade, Tharavikulam, and was warmly welcomed by Major General Shewanth Kulathunga, the General Officer Commanding of 23 Infantry Division and Colonel Asitha Pushpakumara, Brigade Commander of the 232 Infantry Brigade. After, the comprehensive briefing on security and administration matters of brigade area of responsibility, and presented the memento for the Commander, SF-E by the Brigade Commander, 232 Infantry Brigade. The Commander, SF-E also visited Thoppigala Heritage Park and the iconic landmark and monument. Moreover the Commander, SF-E visited the Headquarters 12 Battalion Sri Lanka National Guard as the last visit of the day.

On Wednesday (March 22), the Commander, SF-E visited Headquarters 9 Battalion Sri Lanka Artillery, Sinhapura, and 6 Battalion Gajaba Regiment, Nawalladi, and at that moment the Commanding Officers of those battalions, Lieutenant Colonel Indika Chandrakumara and Major Lasantha Ranthanayake, warmly welcomed the Commander, SF-E.

At all the entrances of brigades and battalions accorded a drive pass for the Commander SF-E, by the troops, and the Commander, SF-E planted a mango sapling as a remark on his official visit. Also the Commander, SF-E shared his valuable thoughts with officers and penned his compliments in the Visitors’ Book before departure.

Major General Shewanthn Kulathunge, the General Officer Commanding, the 23 Infantry Division, Brigade Commanders of 232 and 233 Infantry Brigades, Colonel General Staff of the 23 Infantry Division, Commanding Officers of the battalions, senior officers, and officers participated during those visits.
