EASTERN COMMANDER INTERACTS WITH 23 DIVISION TROOPS

Major General M K U P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG the newly appointed Eastern Commander, paid his official visit to the Headquarters 23 Infantry Division at Punani on Wednesday (Aug 16).

Brigadier KVNP Premaratne RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division warmly welcomed the Commander, Security Forces - East, after he was saluted in a colourful Guard Turnout as a Drive Past at the entrance, presented by 9 Sri Lanka Artillery troops.

Afterwards, he planted a mango sapling before he posed for a group photograph with the Divisional staff. Further, he addressed the 23 Infantry Division troops and interacted with the troops during an All-Rank tea. Later, he received a briefing on the role and tasks of the Division and its responsibilities by the General Officer Commanding. Before his departure from the Division Headquarters, the Commander left a couple of thoughts and compliments in the 23 Infantry Division visitors’ book.

The Eastern Commander also visited the, COVID 19 burial site at Oddamavadi and Punani Campus premises during the visit. General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, 231 Infantry Brigade Commander, Divisional Staff Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also participated in the series of events.
