HINDU SPECIAL POOJA AT KONESHWARAM KOVIL BESTOWS BLESSINGS

A special religious event, in line with the series of multi-religious ceremonies that are being preceded these days, got underway Friday (5) morning with a sacred Pooja of Hindu tradition where blessings were invoked on the 69th Army Anniversary and Army Day (October 10) during a special ceremony at the Historic Koneshwaram Kovil Trincomalee, attended by General Officer Commanding 22 Division Major General Aruna Jayasekara, as the Chief Guest.

In accordance with the direction of the Commander of the Army and with the guidance of the Commander Security Force (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala, this solemn flag-blessing ceremony was organized by 22 Division, under the supervision of General Officer Commanding 22 Division Major General Aruna Jayasekara.

During this special Pooja, the Chief Guest respectfully presented the 22 Division flag for blessings to the Chief Priest (Kurukkal) in accordance with Hindu traditions, where symbolically blessings were invoked on the flags of 22 Division, 221 Brigade, 222 Brigade, 224 Brigade, 6 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, 15 Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 6 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 5 (V) Sri Lanka Artillery and 2(V) Gajaba Regiment after taking it into the inner chamber of the Kovil, amidst religious rites and rituals.

Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers and a representative gathering of all under command formations attended the special Pooja.
