"HONORING A DISTINGUISHED MILITARY CAREER"-OUTGOING COMMANDER, SECURITY FORCES (EAST) UNDERTAKES FORMAL VISIT TO 22 INFANTRY DIVISION

The outgoing Commander of Security Forces Headquarters (East), Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, was honored in accordance with military traditions during a formal farewell ceremony held at the premises of the 22 Infantry Division Headquarters on 1 April 2024.

Upon arrival, a Guard Turnout at the entrance of the 22 Infantry Division Headquarters was accorded to the outgoing Commander. He then participated for the group photograph and signed the visitors' book at the 22 Infantry Division compound as a gesture of remembrance.

During his address to the troops of the 22 Infantry Division, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG expressed his gratitude to all ranks for their commendable service and unwavering support throughout his tenure. He was presented with a memento as a token of appreciation, followed by an all-rank tea in accordance with military customs.

Subsequently, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG inaugurated the newly renovated OR's Lagoon View Holiday Bungalow and distributed bicycles to battalions in 22 Division. Additionally, he handed over a newly constructed house to a deserving needy family in Paranamadawachchiya, constructed by the 20 Battalion the Gajaba Regiment.

The farewell lunch, held afterwards, further honored the outgoing Commander of Security Forces (East). He also recorded his thoughts in the visitors’ book at the Officers' Mess of the 20 Battalion the Gajaba Regiment.

The event was attended by the GOC, Dy GOC and Bde Comds of the 221, 222, and 223Infantry Brigades, staff officers of Security Forces Headquarters (East), senior officers, all commanding officers, officers, and enlisted personnel of the 22 Infantry Division.
