Major General UD Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment assumed duties as the new Commander of the Security Forces - East, religious blessings in the Security Forces Headquarters East premises on Monday (12 June).
The newly appointed, Commander of the Security Forces – East was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers of Security Forces Headquarters - East with offering a colorful “Guard Turnout” at the entrances and a “Guard of Honour” parade in the parade square at Security Forces Headquarters - East, honoured to the Commander Security Forces - East. Later on a religious ceremony conducted by members of the “Maha Sangha” at the Commander's office invoked blessings on the new appointment. A “special Pirith chanting” session blessed the new Commander of Security Forces - East as he symbolically initialed an official document to signify acceptance of the new appointment. After that planting of a sapling, he posed for two group photograph at the SF HQ (E), compound as a symbol of memory.
Furthermore, the formal address to the Officers, and Other Ranks in Security Forces Headquarters - East and affiliated battalions. Also Participated to Staff briefing about the responsibilities and admin matters in the SF - E area and culminated the day’s proceedings. General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division,Infantry Brigade Commanders,Brigadier General Staff with Staff Officers of SF HQ - E, Commanding Officers, and Other Ranks were participated in the occasion.
