SECURITY FORCES HEADQUARTERS (EAST) DISTRIBUTED CATTLE FOR NEEDY FARMERS IN KOKKADICHOLAI AREA

Under the guidance of Security Forces Commander (East) Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, Security Forces Headquarters (East) has launched a livelihood support programme to support needy farmers in Kokkadicholai area. This project involves multiple approaches to address difficulties faced by farmers with the aim of uplifting their income level. The support extended by Security Forces (East) includes providing financial support, providing farm animals, and farming equipment in collaboration with various civil organizations. Currently, “Interfaith Coalition for Peace” and "Shraddha Social Service Unit" of Shraddha TV Channel have already joined hands with Security Forces Headquarters (East) for this worthy cause.

On 13th January 2024, 6 farmers from Kokkadicholai received 16 cows under the "Abayadana Punya Project" conducted by "Shraddha Social Service Unit". 16 cattle worth 2.5 million rupees were handed over to selected farmers at a simple ceremony conducted at "Mahamevna Asapuva" Kaduwela with a patronage of Shraddha TV Channel. Ven kadawathaVijithawansha thero of "Abayadana Punya Project", the management and staff of the Shraddha TV Channel and Lieutenant Colonel WDRJ Karunarathne, Civil Affairs Officer -SF HQ(East) attended the ceremony.

On behalf of the Commander Security Forces (East) Lieutenant Colonel Karunaratne extended his propound gratitude to Mr. Prasad Binuwara – CEO, Shraddha TV Channel and all his staff and all the generous supporters of "Abayadana Punya Project" who selflessly contributed their hard-earned wealth for this worthy initiative.
