SERIES OF RELIGIOUS PROGRAMMES TO MARK 15TH ANNIVERSARY OF SFHQ (EAST)

Security Force Headquarters (East) proudly commemorated its 15th anniversary with a series of religious events to invoke blessings on all those who laid down their lives for the Motherland, wounded in action, all those serving in the Security Forces (East) and the veterans of the Security Forces (East). These programes were organized under the auspices of the Commander Security Forces (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala.

The main religious ceremony was commenced on 29 October with an impressive Perahera program organized by the Headquarters where the sacred casket and the Piruwana Pothwahanse were very respectfully carried to the Camp premises prior to All Night Pirith chanting to invoke blessings. It was followed by offering of Alms to 20 members of the Maha Sangha with the participation of prominent monks lead by Most Ven. Kaduruwela Dhammapala Thero.

Furthermore, a Kapruk Pooja for the historical Somawathiya Stupa was held on Monday (30) with the participation of a representative gathering of Security Force Headquarters (East) graced by the Commander Security Forces (East) Major General Santhusitha Pananwala. The religious perfomances were conducted by the Chief Incumbent of Somawathiya Rajamaha Viharaya, Most Ven. Pahamune Sri Sumangala Thero. A special pooja at Mahasen Dewalaya, Minneriya were also organized in the light of obtaning blessings for troops.
