THE VISIT OF AREAS IN THE POLONNARUWA DISTRICT AFFECTED BY ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS AND THE DISTRIBUTION OF DRY RATION BAGS TO AFFECTED RESIDENTS IN TO VILLAGES

The Commander, Security Forces (East), Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, together with senior officers, conducted an visit on 06.12.2025 to observe several areas in the Polonnaruwa District affected by adverse weather conditions within the Security Forces (East) area of responsibility and to supervise the ongoing disaster relief operations.

First, the renovation of the Elahera Anicut was inspected. During the visit, the team met the Chief Irrigation Engineer and inquired about the current progress. The Commander then met the officers and troops engaged in the renovation work and issued the necessary instructions for the future continuation of the project.

Furthermore, the Commander, Security Forces (East) and senior officers distributed dry ration bags and school items donated by the Medirigiriya Sri Jayabimba Rama Viharaya and the Dayaka Sabha to the people of Sorawila and Namal Pokuna in the Dimbulagala area, who were affected by the adverse weather conditions. Afterwards, the SF (east) Commander visited the area under The 12th Gemunu Watch and commended the commanding officer and all troops for their dedicated service in the disaster relief activities carried out in the area.

Thereafter, The Commander, Security Forces (East), inspected the disaster-affected Salpitigama village in the Dehiattakandiya area. Following this visit, Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc and senior officers met the Incumbent of the Dimbulagala Aranya Senasana and discussed the Army’s assistance in the disaster affected areas.
