The Security Forces Headquarters (East), in collaboration with its personnel, organized a vibrant Sinhala and Hindu New Year festival on 8th April 2025 at the Security Forces Headquarters (East) grounds. This event brought together officers, soldiers, civil servants, and their families to celebrate the rich cultural traditions of Sri Lanka.
The festival featured an array of traditional games and activities, including Kotta Pora (pillow fighting), Kana Mutti (pot breaking), and tug-of-war competitions, fostering camaraderie and team spirit among participants. Children enjoyed events such as bun-eating contests and balloon-blowing competitions, creating a festive atmosphere for all ages.
The event was graced by the presence of the Commander, Security Forces (East), Major General P. R. Pathiravithana, USAWC psc, and was attended by the General Officer Commanding, senior officers, officers, other ranks, civil servants, and family members. Their participation underscored the significance of the festival in promoting cultural values and community bonds within the Area of Responsibility (AOR).
This New Year festival exemplified the Sri Lanka Army's commitment to preserving Sri Lankan traditions and enhancing the welfare of its personnel and their families through communal celebrations.
