Troops of the 10th (Volunteer) Gemunu Watch, under the command of the 54 Infantry Division, extended their active support to a large-scale road cleanup campaign organized by the Adampan Pradeshiya Sabha. The programme, held on 07 August 2025, covered the road stretch from Adampan through Andankulam to Vattakandal.
Conducted in line with the national “Clean Sri Lanka” programme. the campaign was launched following a formal request from the Adampan Pradeshiya Sabha for military assistance. It was carried out on the directives of the General Officer Commanding, 54 Infantry Division, Major General A.M.C. Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndc, and under the supervision of the Commander, 541 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier I.P. Jayasinghe RWP.
The Commanding Officer of 10(V) Gemunu Watch, Major R.M.H. Karunarathna GW, closely monitored the operation, ensuring smooth execution and effective coordination among all stakeholders.
A combined contingent of military personnel and civilian participants joined hands in the cleanup, reflecting strong civil-military cooperation in environmental conservation. The event brought together 50 staff members from the Manthai (West) Pradeshiya Sabha, 15 medical staff from Adampan Hospital, 5 Public Health Inspectors, 25 officials from the Zonal Education Office – Madhu, and 25 local civilians, alongside the Sri Lanka Army troops. Their joint effort showcased unity, community spirit, and inter-agency collaboration in promoting a cleaner environment.g sense of community and inter-agency cooperation.
