The 54 Infantry Division bade farewell to outgoing General Officer Commanding, Major General A M C P Wijayaratne RWP RSP nps psc on 27 June 2025 at the 54 Infantry Division premises amidst military traditions.
In accordance with military customs, Major General Chaminda Wijayaratne, upon arrival, reviewed the Guard Turnout, as the first segment of the day’s proceedings and the outgoing General Officer Commanding paid tribute to the memory of fallen war heroes at the monument in the Division Headquarters. Afterwards, he took the salute of the Guard of Honour, presented by troops of the 8th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.
Soon after, he placed his signature in an official document signifying the handing over of his duties at his office the Outgoing General Officer Commanding posed for a group photograph with the Senior Officers and Officers serving under the Division Headquarters.
Afterwards, a token of appreciation was presented to outgoing General Officer Commanding and he addressed the troops and extended his sincere gratitude to the troops for the support extended during his tenure after sharing a cup of tea with all ranks.
The commanders of the 541, 542 and 543 Infantry Brigades, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were participated for the event.
