In line with the island-wide programme commemorating the supreme sacrifices made by Sri Lankans for the restoration of lasting peace in the motherland, the 54 Infantry Division successfully organized a medical clinic on 07 June 2025 at Vellankulam Government Tamil Mixed School, located within the General Area of the Mannthai (West) Divisional Secretariat.
This community outreach initiative was conducted under the guidance of Major General A M C P Wijerathna RWP RSP NPS psc, General Officer Commanding, 54 Infantry Division, and under the close supervision of Brigadier I P Jayasinghe RWP, Commander, 541 Infantry Brigade. The event was actively supported by the Commanding Officer and troops of the 5(V) Mechanized Infantry Regiment.
The clinic was organized to deliver much-needed healthcare services to underserved civilian communities and to strengthen civil-military relations in the region. Services provided during the event included:
• General medical consultations
• Eye care services
• Dental check-ups and treatments
• Mental health and nutritional consultations
• Blood testing services
Medical staff from the Adampan Medical Officer of Health (MOH) Office, in collaboration with the 54 Infantry Division medical team, rendered their professional expertise throughout the clinic.
The event saw the participation of several dignitaries, including the General Officer Commanding, 54 Infantry Division, Commander, 541 Infantry Brigade, the Assistant District Secretary, Mannar, and other senior officials.
Approximately 125 families from surrounding villages attended the clinic and benefitted from the comprehensive medical services offered.
This initiative underscores the Sri Lanka Army’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the well-being of its fellow citizens while continuing to build goodwill, trust, and cooperation between the military and the public.
