56 DIVISION ASSISTS FOR VICTIMS FROM FLOODS

The adverse weather condition prevailed in Northern Area made a disastrous situation during last few days and people in Wanni region affected severely due to these circumstances. As per the directions given by the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu troops of all Divisions under Security Force (Wanni) were being on alert to counter any calamity and relief people in Wanni area while assisting affected ones from floods.

In that context, troops of 56 Division under the directions of Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc organised a programme to distribute dry rations, cloths and other needy items for five families in Kandarodasikulam village on 26 December 2018.

During a visit made by the 56 Division Commander, it was observed that the inconvenience faced by helpless villagers due to the severe damages for their Cadjan Houses. Afterwards, prompt actions were taken by the General Officer Commanding 56 Division Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc to help two victimised families in distributing adequate quantity of tin sheets to repair their damaged roofs.

Troops of 17 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment under the supervision of its Commanding Officer were tasked to be the manpower in renovating these damaged houses and they were able to successfully complete renovations immediately being a great assistance for helpless villagers at a moment when an assistance was indispensable for them.

Villagers of Kandarodasikulam paid their sincere gratitude for Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc along with his troops under 56 Division for the invaluable support given to them at a needy time.

Such kind of prompt actions and great assistance given by the troops under Security Force (Wanni) with the supervision of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu to help and rescue people from disastrous situations were highly praised by the entire community in Wanni region.
