56 INFANTRY DIVISION CONDUCTS INDIGENOUS MEDICAL CLINIC TO PROMOTE TROOP HEALTH AND WELLBEING

An Indigenous Medical Clinic was successfully conducted at the Headquarters of the 56 Infantry Division on 11 March 2026 with the participation of seven medical officers from the Vavuniya Ayurvedic Hospital, headed by Dr. R. S. H. De Zoysa. During the programme, the team of Ayurvedic physicians personally attended to the troops, conducting medical examinations, providing consultations, and issuing appropriate indigenous medicines. The clinic also served as a platform to educate troops on the benefits of traditional medical practices that promote overall health, disease prevention, and long-term wellbeing.

A total of 7 Officers and 64 Other Ranks representing the 56 Infantry Division, including personnel from the Infantry Brigade Headquarters and units under command, participated in the programme. The attending troops received medical advice and treatment, while also gaining valuable knowledge on the application of indigenous medicine for maintaining health, managing common ailments, and enhancing both physical and mental resilience.

The programme was conducted under the direction of the General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division, Major General Anuruddha Solangaarachchi RSP ndc psc, and under the supervision of the Colonel General Staff Officer of the Division, Colonel L A P M K Liyanarachchi. The successful conduct of this initiative highlights the Division’s continued commitment to the welfare of its personnel while promoting the effective use of indigenous medical knowledge in supporting the health, readiness, and operational efficiency of troops serving under the 56 Infantry Division.
