The beach cleaning programme was conducted in line with the Clean Sri Lanka campaign on 10 December 2025. The initiative was carried out under the guidance and instructions of Major General M. W. S. Millagala RWP RSP USP Hdmc psc, the General Officer Commanding of the 59 Infantry Division, with the close supervision of Brigadier M. S. I. Aluwihare RWP RSP, Commander of the 591 Infantry Brigade.
A total of 450 personnel took part in the clean-up programme at Mullaitivu and Kokilai beaches. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with the Army, Navy, Police, Civil Defence Department, government officials, members of the Red Cross, and local civilians.
