In a commendable act of civic responsibility and humanitarian service, the 5th Battalion of the Sri Lanka National Guard successfully organized a blood donation programme at the Thanthirimale temple premises on 17 June 2025.
The initiative was carried out under the guidance of Major General K M P S B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (Wanni), on the instructions of Major General M W A R C Wijesuriya RSP USP ndc, General Officer Commanding, 21 Infantry Division, and under the close supervision of the Commander, 213 Infantry Brigade. This event formed part of the broader civil-military cooperation efforts, aimed at strengthening ties between the armed forces and the civilian population in the Wanni region.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of both military personnel and civilians, reflecting a shared commitment to supporting the healthcare needs of the region. The collected blood units are expected to contribute significantly to the regional blood bank supplies, aiding patients in urgent need of transfusions.
