Troops under 56 Division organised series of events to mark the 69th Army Anniversary at the Headquarters premises of 56 Division on 10 October 2018. Day’s celebration was commenced with hoisting the Army Flag by General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc in front of the main office complex at the Division Headquarters.
Thereafter, the Division Commander planted a sapling symbolising the commencement of tree planting campaign which he spearheaded with an intention of planting 1000 trees inside and surrounding areas of the Headquarters premises of 56 Division.
Coincide to the day’s celebration, all Officers and Other Ranks of the Headquarters of 56 Division offered a sumptuous lunch and valuable gift packs for children at Anpaham Hindu Children’s Home at Veppankulam in Vavuniya. This Children’s Home is devoted to take care abandoned children. Over 45 children are being looked after with great care and authorities of the Anpaham Hindu Children’s Home paid their solemn gratitude to the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc together with all Officers and Other Ranks of the Division Headquarters for the philanthropy that they exhibited by organising such event which remained the deep of hearts of those innocent helpless children.
