In keeping with the noble tradition of honoring the supreme sacrifice of Sri Lankans who laid down their lives for the sovereignty and peace of the motherland, the month of May is annually observed as a period of remembrance. As part of this commemoration, the Sri Lanka Army continues to engage in community-oriented social welfare initiatives across all regions under its purview.
In line with this endeavour, the troops of the 7th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (7 SLSR) conducted a dry ration distribution programme for low-income families residing in Arumutthupudukulam village. The programme, held on 16 June 2025 at the Arumutthupudukulam Grama Niladhari Office, saw the distribution of 20 dry ration parcels to 20 deserving families.
The event was spearheaded by the Commanding Officer of 7th Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel M K D P P K Kankani, RWP RSP USP psc, along with the participation of senior officers and a contingent of 04 x 10 troops of the battalion. The presence and active involvement of the troops underscored the Army’s steadfast commitment to nation-building and fostering goodwill among communities.
This social welfare initiative is a continuation of the Army’s broader civil-military cooperation efforts, aimed at uplifting the living standards of underprivileged segments of society while paying homage to those who made the supreme sacrifice for a united and peaceful Sri Lanka.
The recipients expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Army for this timely gesture of compassion and support.
