Under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 54 Infantry Division, Major General AMC Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndc, and the direction of the Commander, 542 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier A R W C Asurasinghe RWP RSP USP, a comprehensive training workshop was successfully conducted for Junior Officers, Senior Non-Commissioned Officers, and Non-Commissioned Officers of the 542 Infantry Brigade and its under-command battalions, 4 GR and 8 VIR.
The programme was held from 16 February 2026 to 18 February 2026 at the 542 Infantry Brigade with the primary objective of enhancing participants’ knowledge and practical understanding of Army administration and logistics.
The initiative aimed to strengthen their capacity to efficiently execute day-to-day responsibilities within unit lines while maintaining high standards of accuracy, accountability, and coordination.
The workshop covered essential administrative and logistical procedures at unit level, focusing on improving efficiency in documentation, stores management, reporting systems, and routine administrative functions. Participants received comprehensive guidance on fundamental processes relevant to their respective appointments, thereby ensuring smoother execution of tasks and better inter-unit coordination.
The opening address was delivered by Major General A M C Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndu, who emphasized the critical importance of continuous professional development and structured training in upholding discipline, efficiency, and operational readiness within the Division. He underscored that administratively competent and well-informed junior leaders form the backbone of any effective military formation and play a decisive role in sustaining operational excellence.
In addition to the academic sessions, the programme incorporated team-building activities aimed at fostering leadership qualities, mutual trust, and camaraderie among participants. To further enhance morale and provide constructive recreation, participants were also facilitated to visit selected places of interest in the Mannar area.
The successful completion of this training initiative reflects the steadfast commitment of the 542 Infantry Brigade to developing professionally competent, confident, and resilient junior leaders capable of meeting administrative and logistical challenges with dedication and efficiency.
