Continuing its commitment to enhancing the welfare of pregnant mothers in the Mannar District, the 54 Infantry Division successfully conducted an awareness programme and distributed essential items to 162 pregnant mothers on 15 February 2026 at the Centre for Diocesan Laity Council Lecture Hall, Mannar.
The programme was held under the guidance of Major General A M C Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndc, General Officer Commanding of the 54 Infantry Division, and was executed under the supervision of Brigadier A H R Hasantha RSP psc, Commander of the 543 Infantry Brigade. The event was organized with the support of the 4th Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, with the objective of promoting maternal healthcare and supporting expectant mothers across the district.
The welfare initiative was generously sponsored by Nature's Secrets Pvt Ltd. The Senior Sales Manager for the Northern Province, Mr. Rathakirushnan Ramanan, and the Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Azaath Haniffa, along with medical staff, also extended their valuable support to ensure the success of the programme.
This initiative reflects the continued commitment of the Sri Lanka Army to uplift the lives of civilians, strengthen civil–military cooperation, and contribute meaningfully to the social and cultural development of the Mannar District.
