In line with the guidance of the General Officer Commanding of the 54 Infantry Division, Major General A M C Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndc and under the direction of the Commander of the 541 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier I P Jayasinghe RWP, a cleaning programme was conducted at the premises of the Thiruketheeswaram Hindu Temple on 06 February 2026, in parallel with the forthcoming Maha Shivaratri festival. The programme was organized by the 10 (V) Gamunu Watch under the supervision of the Commanding Officer,Maj R M H Karunarathne GW as part of the “Clean Sri Lanka” project. Officers and Other Ranks of the unit actively participated in the programme along with members of the local community.
The initiative aimed at maintaining cleanliness and preserving the sacred environment of the temple ahead of the religious festival, while also strengthening civil - military cooperation and fostering harmony between the Sri Lanka Army and the local populace.
