Differently Abled War Heroes Visit 59 Division Area

A group of differently abled war heroes, who sacrificed their limbs for the motherland, visited the 59 Infantry Division area on 28 June 2025. This special programme was organized with the aim of breaking the monotony of their daily lives and uplifting their morale.

The initiative was conceptualized by the Commander Security Forces (Wanni), carried out under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 59 Infantry Division, and supervised by the 593 and 591 Infantry Brigades along with their respective under-command battalions.

During their visit, the heroes first paid tribute at the Puthukkudiyiruppu War Monument, honoring their fallen comrades who sacrificed their lives in the final battle. They also visited historically significant sites, including the former LTTE leader Prabhakaran’s bunker and swimming pool, witnessing firsthand the locations where decisive moments of the humanitarian operation took place.

The group then proceeded to the Wadduvakal Bridge, the site that marked the final phase of the human rescue operation during the war. They also spent time at Mullaitivu Beach, appreciating its serene beauty and reflecting on their own contributions to national peace and security.

The day concluded with a musical event and a lunch at the Green Jacket Holiday Resort in Nayaru Beach, offering these brave individuals a moment of relaxation, entertainment, and camaraderie.

This heartfelt initiative was undertaken to express profound gratitude for their sacrifices and to ensure they continue to feel respected, included, and valued within the military family and the broader society.
