Taking soldiers welfare a step further, Headquarters 61 Division organized a pilgrimage/ educational / leisure trip for the families of soldiers and civil servants covering Anuradhapura, Mannar, Thalaimannar, Pesalei Beach, Mihinthale, Thanthirimale and Madhu areas during 17, 18, 19 and 20 January 2019.
The Family Trip is a concept introduced by the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu. His expectations from the trip are to create an atmosphere for the families to develop a long lasting bond between families and to enable soldiers to participate in a trip as a whole family.
77 families comprising of 300 members of Senior Non Commissioned Officer, Junior Non Commissioned Officers, Privates and Civil Servants representing Headquarters 61 Division and its under command formations took part in the four day program. During the entire visit the Headquarters 61 Division provided free comfortable accommodation, all meals and refreshments, transport, guidance medical assistance and narrations at all visited places.
The General Officer Commanding of 61 Division Brigadier KDCGJ Thilakarathne RWP RSP along with Commander 611 Brigade Colonel LDSS Liyanage RSP USP psc Hdmc supervised in facilitating and organizing the entire trip very successfully.
