Under the guidance of Brigadier I.P. Jayasinghe RWP, the Commander of the 541 Infantry Brigade, and in line with the “Clean Sri Lanka” programme, a beach clean-up campaign was organized on 29 June 2025 with the aim of preserve marine and coastal ecosystems by reducing pollution, promoting sustainable environmental practices, and fostering long-term environmental responsibility among communities and stakeholders. The event was conducted along the coastal area of Mundalampiddy in the GN Division MN-03, with the participation of officers and other ranks of the 5 (Volunteer) Mechanized Infantry Regiment, as well as local residents. The programme was carried out under the supervision of the Commanding Officer of the 5 (V) Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel J.P.U. Kumara USP.
