SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS (WANNI) CONDUCTS AN AWARENESS PROGRAM ON DRUG ADDICTIONS AND CONTROLLING

After the three decades of brutal terrorism, Sri Lankan society is facing another challenge of preventing drug trafficking and drug addictions.In the military, number of Officers and Other Ranks have already been victimized from drug addictions. Therefore, anawareness program on drug addictions and its preventions was successfully conducted by Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) on 15 May 2018 at the Wanni Headquarters premises.

The program was basically conducted to be made aware of Officers and Other Ranks on different kinds of illegal drugs prevailing in Sri Lanka and harmful social, economic, and health impacts of drug addictions.

18 Officers and 310 Other Ranks representing all under command formations to Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) participated in this timely valuable program organized with the supervision and guidance of the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP USP ndu.

The Educational and Information Officer of National Dangerous Drugs Control Board Mr.Chamara Pradeep Karunarathne and Psychological Councillor Ms Iresha Indeewari conducted lectures in this awareness programme.

Principal Staff Officers of the Wanni Headquarters, Senior Officers, Officers along with large number of Other Ranks participated in the programme.
