THE SPECIAL RELIGIOUS BLESSINGS & ALMS-GIVING ON 26TH ANNIVERSARY OF SECURITY FORCES HEADQUARTERS (WANNI)

Members of the Maha Sangha at the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi and Ruwanweli Maha Seya at sacred Anuradhapura invoked blessing on forthcoming 26th Anniversary of Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) on Sunday, 9th March. Major General W P A D W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Wanni), together with Commander 21 Infantry Division and Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks gathered there to invoking symbolic blessings.

In accordance with traditions, Commander Security Forces (Wanni) formally invited Maha Sangha to lead the religious performances at the Udamaluwa and Ruwanweli Maha Seya respectively by offering the symbolic tray of betel (Deheth Wattiya) and ‘Atapirikara’ to the monks. Members of the Maha Sangha chanted ‘Seth Pirith’, and invoked symbolic blessings extolled the Army’s contribution and dedication towards the motherland in special orations (Anushasana) on the occasion. Soon after the religious observances, the Commander Security Forces (Wanni) met with the Chief Incumbent of the Ruwanweli Maha Seya, Most Venerable Dr Ithala Wetunuwewe Gnanathilaka thero.

The customary Alms - Giving segment for the 100 of Maha Sangha commenced at the Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) complex with Major General Dinesh Nanayakkara, Commander Security Forces (Wanni) respectfully carried the sacred relic casket while the monks were ushered to the location in a colorful procession, preceded by cultural dancing troupes, traditional drummers and flag-bearers. The Commander Security Forces (Wanni) participated in the offering of ‘Daana’ & ‘Atapirikara’ to Maha Sangha, together with Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks on Sunday 10th March.
