TROOPS UNDER 61 DIVISION AND 611 BRIGADE ORGANISED A WORK SHOP FOR ADVANCED LEVEL SCHOOLERS

In keeping with a concept of the Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu with a view to strengthen the reconciliation process and to build up the image of the Sri Lanka Army, troops under 611 Brigade organized a two-day workshop at V/Puthukulam Maha Vidyalaya during 3rd and 4th July 2018 for students who are expecting to appear in the General Certificate of Advanced Level Examination in year 2018.

The workshop has been organized under the supervision of the General Officer Commanding 61 Division Brigadier K D C G J Thilakarathne RWP RSP and the guidance of Commander 611 Brigade Colonel L D S S Liyanage RSP USP psc Hdmc. All Officers and Other Ranks of 61 Division Headquarters gave an immense support to make success this programme in coordinating with Zonal Education Office Vavuniya (N). In addition, troops of 61 Division and 611 Brigade stepped forward to facilitate the program by providing tutorial notes, transport, refreshments and lunch for students and teachers while the Director of Zonal Education Office, Vavuniya organized teams of resource panels, venue and directing students for the workshop.

Over 175 students participated in the programme which covered Arts and Commerce streams under the subjects of Accounts, Business Studies, Economics, Political Science, Geography, Tamil and Hindu Culture. All students and teachers admired immensely this programme because they were being capable to build much confidence to face the examination with adequate knowledge and proficiency. Teachers and Officials of Zonal Education Office expressed their sincere gratitude to Sri Lanka Army for organizing a workshop aiming underprivileged students in rural areas to provide such opportunities to make success their future goals.

The Commander 611 Bde Colonel L D S S Liyanage RSP USP psc Hdmc, Senior Officers of 61 Division, the Director Zonal Education Office Vavuniya (N) Mrs A Surandren, the Assistant Director (Advanced Level Education) Mrs Jayeethisan and his staff, the Principal Mr Subasian along with teachers of V/Puthukulam Vidyalaya and hundreds of students attended in this programme.
