“GUARDIANS OF THE NATION” – THE SRI LANKA ARMY IS BLESSED BY THE BUDDHIST COMMUNITY IN VAVUNIYA

Members of the Maha Sangha chanted Seth Pirithand invoked blessings on Flags of all military formations under Security Force Headquarters (Wanni)on 19 October 2018 during a ceremony at Sri Bodhidhakshinaramaya held on account of the 69th Army Anniversary.

The Buddhist community together with Hindu, Islam and Catholic communities in Vavuniya area spearheaded the event under the patronage of the Chief Incumbent of Sri Bodhidhakshinaramaya Temple, Ven. Siyambalagaswewe Anandhabidhana thero. This is the first time that such a noble blessing was organised in line with the annual Flag Blessings of Sri Lanka Army. The ceremony signifies reconciliation and virtuous rapport excelled by the civil community towards the Army.

A group of Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers representing all military establishments under Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) attended the event.The religious ceremony commencedwith the arrival of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera RWP RSP VSV USP ndu.

Subsequently, Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General Kumudu Perera donated books for Buddhist and Hindu students. The event was graced by Brigadier Administration and Quartering Brigadier Ranjan Premalal USP, Commanders of 563 and 611 Brigades, several Senior Officers, Officers and large number of Other Ranks together with hundreds of devout Buddhists and other religious communities in Vavuniya area.
