Community Welfare Program Conducted by 212 Infantry Brigade in Celebration of Wesak Festival – May 2025

In celebration of the Wesak Festival, the 212 Infantry Brigade, under the leadership of Brigadier B.A.M.P. Balasuriya RSP, and with the dedicated support of all staff officers and soldiers of the brigade headquarters, conducted a community welfare program on the evening of 12 May 2025.

As part of this initiative, essential sanitary items were distributed to 29 children with special care needs at the Saliyapura Sathutu Children’s Home. In addition to the donations, the children were treated to a dinner and an evening of entertainment, bringing joy and comfort to their lives. The event saw the active participation of the Commander, staff officers, other ranks, and their family members, all united in the spirit of compassion and generosity that characterizes Wesak Poya Day.

Continuing the celebrations, the Headquarters of the 212 Infantry Brigade organized a Coriander Dansala (Kottamalli) on the evening of 13 May 2025. Held in conjunction with the Wesak Poya Day, the Dansala attracted more than 1,700 pilgrims, reinforcing the values of selfless service and community unity.

These initiatives exemplify the brigade’s commitment to humanitarian efforts and spiritual observances, fostering goodwill and support within the community.
