ASSUMING DUTIES OF THE COMMANDER 562 INFANTRY BRIGADE

Brigadier K A S J Kodithuwakku USP ptsc of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers assumed duties as the 6th Commander of the 562 Infantry Brigade at the Headquarters 562 Infantry Brigade, Echchankulam, Vavuniya on 01 May 2026. Upon arrival, the senior officer was warmly received by the Civil Affairs Officer, Lieutenant Colonel H M R P Kumara GW, and was accorded a Guard Turnout in accordance with military traditions.

Following the formal assumption of duties, the newly appointed Brigade Commander addressed the troops of the 562 Infantry Brigade Headquarters. During his address, he emphasized the importance of maintaining unwavering vigilance, exemplary discipline and total dedication towards assigned duties. He further highlighted the dangers of drug abuse and involvement in illegal online activities, while stressing the significance of personal responsibility, accountability and prudent financial management among all ranks.

To mark the occasion, the Brigade Commander planted a sapling within the camp premises and later attended a tea reception organized in his honour. Thereafter, he interacted cordially with officers and other ranks and joined them for a group photograph.

Subsequently, Brigadier Kodithuwakku conducted a comprehensive camp inspection covering the SNCOs’ and NCOs’ living quarters, Private Mess, Corporals’ Club, Main Kitchen, Q Stores, Officers’ Mess, guard room, guard points and officers’ accommodation. During the visit, special attention was paid to camp security, infrastructure, living standards and troop welfare facilities, and necessary instructions were issued for further improvements.

The occasion was attended by the Commanding Officers of 17 (V) SLLI and 12 (V) VIR together with the Brigade staff.
