Due to heavy rain, a large tree branch fell within the premises of the Mannar District Hospital, located in the Mannar Divisional Secretariat area, causing damage to a hospital corridor. Following a request made by the Mannar Divisional Secretariat for military assistance, troops were deployed to remove the fallen branch and clear the affected area.
Under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), and the instructions of the General Officer Commanding, 54 Infantry Division, troops of 4 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment carried out the clearing operation under the close supervision of the Commander, 543 Infantry Brigade.
The Commanding Officer of 4 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, together with troops and hospital staff, successfully removed the fallen tree branch from the hospital premises on 17 May 2026, restoring safety and accessibility to the area.
