ASSUMING DUTIES AS THE COMMANDER OF THE 541 INFANTRY BRIGADE

Brigadier W S A B Dharmaratne RSP USP psc IG assumed duties as the 13th Commander of the 541 Infantry Brigade on 18 May 2026 at the Headquarters of the 541 Infantry Brigade, Kalliyadi, Mannar. Upon his arrival, the Commander was warmly welcomed by the Brigade Major, Major M C A Peiris psc SLLI, and was accorded a Guard Turnout in accordance with military traditions.

Following the formal assumption of duties, the Commander addressed the troops at the Brigade Headquarters, emphasizing the importance of discipline, professionalism, and unwavering dedication towards duty. He further highlighted the significance of responsibility and accountability attached to respective appointments among all ranks.

To commemorate the occasion, Brigadier Dharmaratne planted a sapling within the camp premises and subsequently attended a tea reception organized by the Brigade. During the event, he exchanged cordial views with Officers and Other Ranks and also participated in a group photograph.

Thereafter, the Commander conducted a comprehensive inspection of the camp premises, visiting key locations including the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess, Other Ranks’ accommodation, Other Ranks’ dining hall, Corporals’ Club, main kitchen, Quartermaster Stores, Officers’ accommodation, guard room, and office buildings. Particular attention was paid to camp security, infrastructure facilities, troop welfare, and living conditions.

The occasion was attended by the Commanding Officers of the 10 (V) Gemunu Watch and the 5 (V) Mechanized Infantry Regiment, along with the Brigade Staff.
