14 INFANTRY DIVISION CONDUCTS UNARMED COMBAT TRAINING COURSE

With the approval granted by the Directorate of Training to conduct unarmed combat training for specialized Internal Security Teams of units under the command of the Infantry Brigades of the 14 Infantry Division, and under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding of the 14 Infantry Division together with the supervision of the Commander of the 144 Infantry Brigade, an Unarmed Combat Training Course was successfully conducted with the instructional support of the 2 Battalion of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry. The training course was held from 18 May 2026 to 24 May 2026 at the Headquarters of the 2 Battalion of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry. The programme was conducted with the participation of a troop contingent of 01 x 30 from the 6th Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment and another troop contingent of 01 x 30 from the 14 Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. The course was organized with the objective of enhancing the operational effectiveness, physical preparedness, and close-quarter combat capabilities of specialized Internal Security Teams deployed under the 14 Infantry Division. During the training period, participants received comprehensive instruction on unarmed combat techniques, riot control measures, tactical response drills, and methods of handling hostile situations effectively while maintaining discipline and professionalism. The training programme further strengthened the combat readiness and confidence of the participating troops and contributed significantly towards improving the operational capabilities of Internal Security Teams under the 14 Infantry Division.
