142 Brigade Troops Rush to Clear Blocked Roads

More than 60 members of the Army early this morning (11) rushed to Pitipana, Meegoda, Rathmalana, Dehiwala, Kesbewa, Homagama and adjacent areas and assisted to clear roads that remained blocked after a cyclonic wind fell trees and fronds on to roads, disrupting passage and traffic.

142 Brigade troops under the 14 Division and the Security Force Headquarter – West (SFHQ-West), commanded by Brigadier Nandana Dunuwila, 142 Brigade Commander on the instructions of Major General Sathyappriya Liyange, Commander, Security Forces – West, immediately hurried to those areas and joined hands with Disaster Management Centre (DMC) workforce and civilians to clear trees, fronds, branches, posts and other paraphernalia that have fallen on to the roads and compounds.

Troops of 9 (Volunteer) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 10 Sri Lanka National Guard are still engaged in clearing those roads, assisting civilian and removing those obstacles from affected areas.
