142 INFANTRY BRIGADE CELEBRATES WORLD CHILDREN'S DAY UNDER THE PATRONAGE OF THE COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (WEST)

The collective effort of Army personnel of 142 Infantry Brigade Headqurters, 15 Drone Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery , 7 Battalion Gemunu Watch and 14 Battalion Vijayaba Infantry Regiment under Security Forces (West) organized another humanitarian project to mark the International Children's Day-2022 at 'Surasa Special Education School and Home for Boys'-Madiwela on 1 October 2022.

All the necessities for this programme were properly arranged at the location by Army personal with the direction of the Commander Security Forces (West) as well as under the close supervision of the General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division and Commander 142 Infantry Brigade.

Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP, the Commander Security Forces (West) and his spouse, Mrs. Himali Pussella, graced the occasion as the chief guests. Upon their arrival, they were warmly welcomed by school children, offering a traditional sheaf of betel along with the General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division and the Commander of 142 Infantry Brigade, officers and staff of the school.

In parallel to the event, the troops have organized several interesting games, including a painting competition, a balloon inflating contest and a musical chairs game for children. Other than the games, the chief guests and other participants witnessed the dancing event, which was presented by the children of the school. In addition, the troops also arranged some snacks, music sessions and the distribution of prizes among the children. The end of the day's programme was marked by a delicious lunch for the children of the school, provided by Army personnel.

Besides the programme , the West Commander visited several locations on the school premises, interacting and exchanging thoughts with Army personnel, school staff, and students. Furthermore, the Commander also praised the Army personnel for organizing such a wonderful event for World Children's Day.

The programme was attended by several senior officers, officers, other ranks, the administration officer-Maharagama Divisional Secretariat, the director of school and staff of the school.
