143 INFANTRY BRIGADE TROOPS OFFER TECHNICAL EXPERTISE FOR HOUSE CONSTRUCTION IN PRADEEPAGAMA THABBOWA

Troops of the 16 Battalion Gajaba Regiment and 1 Sri Lanka National Guard of the 143 Infantry Brigade have once again shown their unwavering commitment to serving their community. Recently, they responded positively to an appeal made by a helpless civilian who volunteered to offer their technical expertise and manpower for the construction of her new home for the benefit of her family in Pradeepagama Thabbowa.

This noble project was made possible through the generosity of Mr. Sahan Rajapaksha, who provided the necessary funds and raw materials at the request of the former Commandant of Kala Oya Training School, Brigadier A.M.S. Premawansha RWP RSP USP (Retd) and with the close supervision of the Brigade Commander, 143 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier T.M.F. Kitchilan RWP RSP. Thereby, troops, with their tireless dedication and hard work, completed the project within a few weeks after the requirement was projected to the 143 Infantry Brigade Headquarters.

The completion of the new house was marked by a brief inaugural warming ceremony on 18 June 2023. The keys to the new home were symbolically handed over to the beneficiary, Mrs. Vajira Priyangani, who has children but was without a proper shelter. The Chief Guest at the ceremony was Major General D.M.K.D.B. Pussella RWP RSP, Commander, Security Forces (West), who was joined by Brigadier K. V. N. P. Premaratne RSP USP psc, Brigadier General Staff (SFHQ – West), Brigadier T.M.F. Kitchilan RWP RSP, Commander 143 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier H.V.A. Somaweera RWP RSP USP, Commandant of Kala Oya Training School, Brigadier H.M.S.I. Senarath, Brigadier Admin & Quartering (SFHQ – West), respective Commanding Officers, Several Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and sponsors.

As members of the Maha Sangha went on chanting ‘Seth Pirith’, the day’s Chief Guest, Major General D.M.K.D.B. Pussella RWP RSP and sponsors, along with the beneficiary, cut a ribbon and warmed the house after boiling the auspicious milk pot.

The troops of the 16 Battalion Gajaba Regiment and 1 Sri Lanka National Guard of the 143 Infantry Brigade have once again demonstrated their selflessness and commitment to serving their community. Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the troops' services and dedication to this noble project.
