On the instructions of the Commander of the Army and under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces Headquarters (West), the supervision of the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division Major General K M V Kodithuwakku ndu, and the Commander 144 Infantry Brigade Brigadier M T I Gunawardena RSP psc the “Husmen Husmak Viru Thuru Sevana” Tree Plantation Programme was conducted in Kaduwela, Colombo District, on 05 June 2026.
The programme was carried out with the participation of Army personnel, Police personnel, officials from government institutions, and local residents.Conducted in conjunction with World Environment Day, the initiative aimed to commemorate the sacrifices of the war heroes who laid down their lives for the freedom of the motherland as well as the Sri Lankan citizens who lost their lives due to Cyclone Ditwah.
The programme also highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and encouraged collective efforts towards creating a greener and more sustainable future for the nation.
