The 144 Infantry Brigade Headquarters organized a Sinhala and Tamil New Year Avurudu Festival on 20 April 2025 to celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year by boosting the morale of the soldiers through entertainment. The event was attended by Brigadier BYC Fernando RWP USP, Commander of the 144 Infantry Brigade, who served as the chief guest.
Despite limited space and a busy schedule, the festival focused on traditional customs and entertainment. It concluded with the distribution of New Year gifts to 17 civil servants working under the Brigade Headquarters and the presentation of prizes to the winners of various competitions.
