Under the guidance of the 61 Infantry Division and the supervision of the 572 Infantry Brigade ,Troops of the 18th Battalion, Sri Lanka National Guard, , responded promptly to a sudden wildfire that erupted in the Kuragala area, Balangoda, around 1130 hrs on 10 June 2025. Demonstrating exceptional commitment and swift action, the soldiers braved hazardous conditions to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby forested areas and residential zones. Their timely intervention played a crucial role in minimizing damage to the environment and protecting local communities. The operation highlighted the 18 SLNG unwavering dedication to environmental conservation and disaster response. Their courageous efforts underscore the vital role of military personnel in supporting civil authorities during emergencies.
