61 INFANTRY DIVISION TROOPS GIVE ASSISTANCE TO SUSTAINING ESSENTIAL HEALTH SERVICES

The Security Forces (West) promptly dispatched troops to government hospitals impacted by a 24 hours symbolic strike organized by health sector trade unions across the island On 16 January 2024. Military units were swiftly positioned at hospitals including Balangoda, Eheliyagoda, Kegalle, Beruwala, Kalutara, Panadura, Kamburupitiya, Matara Karapitiya, and Udugama. The coordination of this response was overseen by the 61 Infantry Division.

Various battalions including the 8 and 9 Battalions of Sinha Regiment, the 20 Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry, the 8 Battalion of Gemunu Watch, the 2(V) Battalion of Gemunu Watch, the 3(V) Battalion of Gemunu Watch, the 4(V) Battalion of Engineer Service Regiment, and the 1 Battalion of Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps, actively engaged in the mission participating a significant number of troops. This mission was highly impressed by the general public and staff of health services.
