During overnight rescue operations in at Uduwela, Horankadura area in Balangoda, the 8 Gemunu Watch (GW) troops under command to 611 Infantry Brigade of 61 Infantry Division involved in the retrieval of bodies from a collapsed house. Tragically, a family of four, including two children were buried and the troops recovered the deceased bodies of the mother, father and two daughters on 14th November 2023.The General Officer Commanding of the 61 Infantry Division Major General R A J N Ranasinghe RSP USP ndc, directed and oversaw the active engagement efforts of troops during the rescue and clearing operations.
