In order to promote relations between Army troops and civilians in the area, 3 (V) Battalion Gemunu Watch cricket team of the 613 Infantry Brigade under the 61 Infantry Division played a friendly cricket match with Matara Tharuna Kela cricket team on 08 April 2023, at Mahinda Wijesekara Ground – Matara.
The event was organized by the Army personnel of 3 (V) Battalion Gemunu Watch under the guidance of the General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division, along with the Commander, 613 Infantry Brigade, with the approval of the Commander Security Forces (West).
Thereby, the 3 (V) Battalion Gemunu Watch cricket team beat the Matara Tharuna Kela cricket team two to one.
